Our History:
Iredell Memorial Hospital opened in 1954 as a 100-bed, not-for-profit hospital, whose mission was to provide quality healthcare to persons living in Iredell and surrounding counties. The buildings and grounds are owned by the citizens of Iredell County and leased to a board of trustees comprised of local citizens.
The hospital has is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and certified as a Community Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.
Iredell Memorial has undergone several expansions, including the opening of a wing in 1986 for emergency, radiology and laboratory services, surgery, critical care, and nursing units. The J. Allen Knox Radiation Therapy Center opened in January 1990 and expanded in late 1995. The hospital's skilled nursing facility expanded from 18 to 48 beds in 1997. All totaled, the hospital is licensed for 247 beds and employs approximately 1,700 people. There are approximately 135 physicians on staff, most of whom are board certified in their specialty.
